Obituary

William Owen left this world for the warm embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 21, 2023.

He was born July 25, 1924 in Nacozari, Sonora to Gertrudis Quijada and John Owen Taylor.  He was 99 ½ years young.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Josefina; sister, Gertrudis Owen, brothers, Juan and Frank Owen; son, Guillermo "Bill" Owen and sons-in-law, Raul Perez and Jose Jesus Acuna.

Dad was a man of deep faith and many aspects of his life came together to form the wonderful person that he was.

Dad had many fond memories of growing up in Nacozari, but he also remembered how difficult the Great Depression had been.  This experience and being part of a large and loving extended family formed a large part of his character.

He recalled the many acts of kindness he had witnessed and he himself was kind and generous.

He was grateful for the many blessings during his long life.  He enjoyed a loving marriage to his wife of 65 years Josefina, until her passing in 2014.

He was fortunate in having learned the electrical trade in Nacozari while working for Moctezuma Copper (Phelps Dodge).  He would eventually mentor many others and many would become successful, establishing their own small business, Owen Electric.

His last 20 years of employment had been with Paul Lime Plant.  He was very much loved by countless people that included relatives and dear friends, especially children.  To all these people he was affectionately known as "Dad, Tio Willy, Tata Willy, Nino or Compadre."  We will miss him greatly.

He is survived by his children Lourdes Owen, Ana Rosa Acuna (Jose Jesus†), Josie Tardibuono (Sam), Juan Owen (Lupita), Mary Perez (Raul†) and Guillermo† (Susy Owen).

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  Grandchildren Sara Perez and William Tardibuono were close and could respond quickly to assist in his care, which is greatly appreciated by the family.

The family also extends their appreciation to Father Jojo, Casa de la Paz Staff,  Yasmin Garcia RN and Maricela Montano for their kind attention and comforting words.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Brown Page Mortuary.  A Holy Rosary will be recited for William at 10:30 a.m. also on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
