Vullen Lathan "Bugsy" Lewis passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving Family. Bugsy was born on September 20, 1944 in Douglas, Arizona to Robert Lee and Valaska Talaffero Powers Lewis. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1963. After High School, he went to NAU where he played baseball graduating in 1967. While attending NAU he met his wife of 30 years Addie Pearl Lewis on a blind date. They had four children, Kellie, Kristi, Kory and Kody. After graduation Bugsy returned to Douglas working at Phelps Dodge for over 20 years. Upon Phelps Dodge closure, Bugsy went to work for the Department of Corrections retiring as a counselor. After retirement Bugsy was a longtime referee, Umpire and was involved in several of the sporting events in Douglas, Arizona. His hobbies included Cars, Grandkids, Sports especially the Little League Worlds Series. He was also a Lifelong Steelers fan and a Bud Light connoisseur. Bugsy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Valaska and his brother Bobby Lewis. He is survived by his brothers Edmund "Bunny", Shannon "Buddy", and Harlan "Button"; longtime companion Juanita Arvizu; 7 grandchildren Andrina, Ashley, Asia, Dairyon, Korri, Izaih and Joshua and four great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Cilantro's, 323 N. G Avenue. For those who wish to participate in Busgy's official "Last Ride, participants may meet at the Copper King Stadium at 9:45 a.m. "Last Ride" will proceed through Douglas into Pirtleville, passed by Bugsy's House and onto Cilantro's, 323 N. G Avenue. The Memorial Service will begin with the D.O.C. Honor Guard Honoring Bugsy's many years of service followed by Pastor Larry Stewart. Celebration of Bugsy's life will follow the services with a pot luck dinner/celebration. The family would like to thank all of Bugsy's friends, co-workers, neighbors, car club buddy's "hermanos" and the community of Douglas for all of their love and support extended through-out this difficult time.
