Victor Rose, Jr. went to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 18th at the Tucson Medical Center following a short illness. He was born to Victor and Angelina Rose on July 18, 1939. Victor was a lifelong resident of Douglas. After graduating from Douglas High School he began two years of active duty with the U.S. Navy. Upon returning to Douglas in 1960 he continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard for eight years. Victor was employed by the City of Douglas, Phelps Dodge Smelter until it closed in 1987 and then went to work for the Douglas Unified School District until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and an active member of the American Legion Fred Hilburn Post 11 in Douglas where he enjoyed exchanging war stories and talking about the "good old days" with his buddies. He served as president of the Bushmasters Club in Douglas in 1969 and again in 1979. Immediate family who will miss him dearly are Linda-his wife of 25 years, his sons Victor III, Dominic (Mark), daughter Monica (Robert), his brother Tony (Angie) and sister Margaret Baldenegro (Michael), step children Elda Iniquez (David), Armando Arevalo, Ari Arevalo (Camille), 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Angelina Rose, sister Sylvia, brother Tony Cortez Rose and step daughter Denise Arevalo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Page Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at St. Like's Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of the Resurrection being celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, the American Legion and VFW. Pallbearers who will serve are Dominic Rose, Victor Rose III, Cesar Rose, Armando Arevalo, Jr., Ari Arevalo and Anthony Arevalo. A potluck lunch will be held immediately following the services at the American Legion Post in celebration of Victor's life. "I fought a good fight…I kept my faith…now a crown is waiting for me."
