Vicente "Chente" Perez, longtime Douglas resident passed away on November 3, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margarito and Conception Perez, his brothers Delfino and Jesus Perez, and son Ramon "Quack" Tellez. Chente is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josefina Echeribel Perez. He is also survived by his Daughters, Helen (Manuel) Villanueva of Douglas, Yolanda Schroeder of Redondo Beach, California, Grace (Frank) Rivera of Douglas, Margaret (Ramiro) Rivera of Douglas, Diane (Mark) Lalic of Torrance, California, Carol (Frank Pinon) Perez of Douglas, Sons, Vicente Perez, Jr., of Douglas and Fernando (Veronica) Perez of Phoenix, AZ. Sisters, Ana Estrada and Mary Valenzuela of Douglas, AZ. Chente is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Chente was born in Douglas, Arizona on April 5, 1927. Vicente served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the military he worked at Phelps Dodge in Morenci, Arizona and for the Cochise County Road Department in Douglas, AZ where he retired. Vicente was a member of the American Legion, Pirtleville Veterans' Club and was a lifetime parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Vicente dedicated himself to family and church activities. His hobbies were raising cattle, swine, chickens, fishing, camping, boxing, gardening and making arts and wood crafts. Chente enjoyed going to "THE LAND" where he had his cattle and for family gatherings, where he enjoyed spending time with his family. A Rosary for Vicente will be recited by Deacon Ed Gomez at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Brown Page Mortuary. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Pirtleville, AZ with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Pirtleville, AZ with Military Honors by the Fort Huachuca Honor Guard and the American Legion. Pallbearers who will serve are Miguel Villanueva, Frank Rivera, Jr., Gabriel Rivera, Bernardo Perez, David Schroeder, Fernando Perez, Jr., and Ralph Velasco. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Rivera, Frank Rivera III, Alex Perez, Mateo Villanueva, Francisco Perez and Estevan B. Villanueva.
