Obituary

Thomas A. Fitch took his final backswing in the presence of his loved ones at TMC's Peppi's House Hospice in Tucson Arizona on April 29, 2015. Tom was the youngest of three sons, born to Charley and Fern Fitch on October 22, 1927 in Lamar Colorado.
Tom moved to Arizona in 1952 and he, his wife & family lived in Phoenix, Prescott, Flagstaff, Ganado, Sierra Vista and Douglas. He retired in 1990 after 20 years working for Cochise College. Tom was very active in the community volunteering as well as pursuing his love of golf. Tom was an AARP Charter Member, served as president of the AARP on several occasions and he and his wife taught the 55 Alive Driving classes for 10 years. He coordinated the photography exhibit for the Cochise County Fair for many years. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, went through all the chairs and served as Master. He was a member from 1948 and received his 50 year pin in 1998. He was on the City Planning and Zoning Board, the Border Patrol Advisory and the Douglas Golf Course Board of Directors.
Tom loved to tell jokes and hear them; he was a good friend to many, helped wherever he could. His home was always open to all, many people, mostly young people that needed a helping hand, made their home with Tom and Virginia for as long as they needed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, Daughter Leslie Ray . (James)of Clifton, AZ, son Dr. Michael Fitch (Ida), of Cave Creek, AZ, son Stephen Fitch (Jan) of Anna, Texas & Daughter Susan Fitch of Colorado Springs, CO. Daughters Carol Wychopen (Kevin) of Yosemite National Park, CA., and Sherri Hunter (Bob) of Knoxville, TN. Fourteen (14) Grandchildren Misti, Tanya, Danielle, Luke, Ryan, Jaime, Jered, Mandy, Tara, Justin, Celeste, Rick, Jeff and Steve, twenty four (24) great grandchildren and his special niece Cathy (Da Niece) and nephew Gary and many nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Tom's name to TMC Peppi's House Hospice, 5301 E Grant Rd Tucson, AZ 85712 - (520)324-2438.
