Thelma (Billie) Johnson went to be with her lord on Sunday January 31, 2016. She passed away at Tucson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after fighting numerous ailments for the past year.
Billie was born January 21, 1929 to William Dawson Maddux Jr and Thelma Grace Wright Maddux in Douglas Arizona. She was a devout homemaker, wife, mother, Grand-mother, and Great-Grandmother.
Billie worked the Gold Bond stamp center in the A.J. Bayless grocery store and the Bisbee/Douglas Air Base. She and her husband Lewis owned and operated Douglas Electric from 1963-2009.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Thelma Maddux and her husband of 64 years of marriage Lewis Johnson.
She is survived by Her Son, Rob Johnson (Kathy) deceased, of Douglas her daughter Julie Johnson-Romero (Carmen) of Douglas, Grandson Aaron Johnson of Tucson, Grand-daughter Audra Johnson-Barrios (James) of Tucson, Grandson Robbie Romero of Tucson, and Great Grandson Krosby Barrios of Tucson. Also survived by niece Bonnie (Ron) Grainger of Silver City New Mexico, niece Jeanette Gray (John) of Tucson, Laurie Phillips (Jim) deceased of Tucson, Aunt Beverly Wright of Douglas and numerous cousins and extended family and friends.
Billie was an avid bowler, going to many state and national tournaments. She enjoyed bowling with Rob and Julie and the Elks lodge for many years. She was a member of the ladies 4:00PM bowling league. She was also a great golfer. She may not have always hit the golf ball very far but it always went straight down the middle! She was a member of the lady golfers association and enjoyed spending lots of time on the course. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years collecting pledges over the phone from near by neighbors.
Billie's favorite pastime was spending quality time with her children and grand children . She was at all their school functions and all their sporting events. She was not just their grandmother she was their "Darlin". The last 4 years she was blessed to have time with her great-grandson Krosby.
Visitation will be held at Brown –Page Mortuary Inc. 910 "F" Avenue Saturday February 6th, at 12:00 PM with services to follow at 2:00PM, with pastor Benjamin Stevens officiating. Graveside services to follow at the Veterans Memorial section at Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Robbie Romero, Aaron Johnson, James Barrios, Rudy Romero, Ron Grainger, and Enrique Chavez.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Clint Maddux, Jimmy Maddux, David Hubacher, Terry Maddux, Grant Benson, Clebe Maddux Jr, Earl Phagan, Cliff Phagan.
