Socorro Moreno
Cortez
Apr 14, 1921 — May 1, 2025
Socorro M. Cortez
Was born in Moctezuma, Sonora Mexico on April 14, 1921. Socorro married Jose Miranda Cortez in 1947.
She was the first woman in her family to immigrate to the U.S.A. Living in California for 21 years. Socorro had three children Rebecca, Jose, and Angie. She also had two step children Frank and Josephine whom she loved as much as her own.
When her husband Jose retired they moved to Douglas, Az. Where she remained until Jose passed in 1978.
Socorro was a very faithful Catholic and was always praying for everyone she loved. She made big tortillas, and refried beans. Her favorite food was "chile colorado" con carne. She loved to be outside caring for her plants. Always wanted to help the less fortunate with food, clothing and even money. She was a very strong willed lady, what she wanted to do she did. When family and friends would come over she wanted
always to feed them right away.
She was the last living person of her generation. Now she has gone to rest and is in peace now.
She has left 5 generations who admired her, love her and will miss her tremendously. Her 3 children, a daughter in-law, a son in-law, 9 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 27 great great grandchildren, and 5 great great great grandchildren.
There are no words to describe the immense woman you are. Your strength, your courage, your fearlessness to be out spoken. A true inspiration that we have been blessed with. The unconditional love you carry and have shared with us will never be forgotten. God has received a heavenly force today, as we lay you to rest we will look up at the sky to find the brightest star and remember how graceful you were. Our nana Yoyo may you rest peacefully and reunite with our loved ones. We love you forever and always.
