Servando Julian Melendez, 58, of Douglas, Arizona passed away peacefully in his home on January 15, 2023.  Servando lived for most of his life in Douglas where he was born on January 27, 1964 to Luis R. Melendez and Maria E. Samaniego-Melendez.

Servando enjoyed spending time with his godchildren and was well known to his friends as Bear.  He liked to be out and about cruising around town on his scooter and he never met a stranger.  He loved animals and most of all he loved his family.  One of his greatest joys was seeing his little nieces and nephews.  He always remembered them at Christmas time and could be seen cruising around town delivering presents on his electric scooter.  After a lengthy illness, Servando was ready to go to his heavenly home and left this earth at peace.  A Redskin fan and a jokester, he was not a fan of The Cowboys.  One of the last things he did was playfully throw a Dallas Cowboy hat at his godson saying, "Throw that away."

Servando is survived by his siblings: Juan (Nadia) of Douglas, Fred of Tucson, Mauro (Becky) of Douglas, Alonso, Gloria and Sandra of Tucson, 9 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.  Servando was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gustavo and his brother Ramon.

Visitation will be held at Brown Page Mortuary on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Douglas, Arizona
