Salustia Nieves Garcia Pedrego earned her wings on April 26, 2021 at the age of 88. Born in Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico, the daughter of Ramona Romero and Higinio Garcia, a mine owner, she spent her childhood at the El Tigre mine in the mountains east of Esqueda, Sonora. More than anything, she was an optimist who always looked at the sunny side of life. Bedridden for the last several years of her life, she kept busy making and donating bracelets for St. Marks Church bizarre and for her fellow residents at the Haven Rest Home. She is survived by three children Ernesto Grijalva, Maria Escarcega and Lizette Marruffo and grandchildren Christopher, Nikole, Amanda, Lauren, Julian, Mariah and Samantha, 7 great grandchildren and possibly several hundred Romeros , Garcias and Olivarrias in her extended family. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Brown Page Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Due to covid 19 safety measures, a limited amount of family will be allowed to attend.
