It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Ruth G. Sanchez announces her passing on October 8, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 79. Ruth was born on May 1, 1946, and lived a life full of hard work, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Ruth was the loving daughter of Ramon Grijalva and Angelita L. Grijalva.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved brothers and sister Geronimo L. Grijalva, Ramon Grijalva, Arturo Grijalva and Ramona Grijalva Mariscal and survived by her brothers Francisco L. Grijalva and Mary Grijalva, Enrigue Grijalva, and her sisters Concepcion and Roberto Muñoz, and Dolores Newman.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Manuel (Manny) Del Rio Jr., Marisa Sanchez, and Jerry Del Rio; her cherished grandchildren Little Manny Del Rio, Rafael Sanchez and Jacqueline Sanchez, Zachary Del Rio, Celine Del Rio, Jacob Del Rio, Uilani (Lani) Del Rio Sanchez, Gael Del Rio, and Demri Del Rio; and her precious great-grandchildren Jazlyn Sanchez and Giovanni Sanchez. Ruth's legacy of love and strength will live on through each of them.

Ruth led a remarkable and inspiring life. She made history as the first meter maid in Douglas, Arizona, serving with the Douglas Police Department. Later, she became a skilled beautician, sharing her creativity and care with her community. Ruth eventually found her career calling with the Arizona Department of Corrections, where she served with integrity and dedication for 25 years, retiring honorably as a Correctional Officer III (COIII).

Ruth will be remembered for her strong will, her sense of humor, and her deep love for her family. She had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story that brought laughter and comfort. Her family and friends will cherish the memories of her warmth, her resilience, and her endless love.

Services to honor Ruth will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, in Douglas, Arizona.

Burial of Cremains: Following services at Calvary Cemetery.

Ruth will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Though she is gone from our sight, her light and love will forever guide our hearts.
