Ruben A. Rivas passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 7, 1949 Ruben was well known but kept to himself. He loved to joke around and would give everyone he met a nickname. Ruben was married for 45 years to his beloved wife Olivia "Gorda" Rivas. They had three children; daughter Evelinda "Boom Boom" (43) and husband Jose "Gordo" Zavala who gave him three wonderful granddaughters, "His Girls" Elizabeth "Grenas" (25), Stephanie "Whooper" (23) and Jessika "Guera" (15); two sons, the late Ruben Rivas, Jr. "Ju Ju Gordo" who passed away at the age of 22 in 1997 and his "Baby" Danny (34) and his fiancé Stephanie "Cookie" Rivera and only grandson Aiden "El Guero" (11). Ruben worked for 19 years at the Cochise County Hospital, 14 years at the Sheriff Department and 14 years at the Department of Corrections where he retired. He also leaves his three sisters, Irene, Ramona and Isabel and three brothers Ray, Pancho and Cuzz (Joe). A Rosary for Ruben will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. April 29, 2016 also at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearer who will serve are Danny Rivas, Jose Zavala, Aidan Rivas, Jose Acuna, Ray Rivas and Frank Rivas.
