Obituary

Roy Manley, lifelong resident of Douglas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, at the age of 91.
Roy was born to Rolley and Andrea Manley. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Virginia, two brothers, Jimmy Duenes and Lee Manley, his son, Jim Manley and daughter, Chris Manley Randall.
Roy graduated from Douglas High School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Smith. Upon returning from his military duty, he was employed by Devore Auto Supply becoming owner in the early seventies and retired when he sold the business in early 2000. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where is served as deacon, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school in his earlier years.
Roy was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8, known as the Honor Society of American Veterans, American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp, VFW and the Douglas and Cochise County Historical Societies.
He is survived by daughters, Barbi (Rafael "Pie" Escarcega) and Debbie Johnston. His grandchildren, Joey (Patty) Grajeda, Celena (Arnold) Galaz, Regina Johnston, Celeste Escarcega, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Roy will be remembered by his family for his love and sense of humor and many will remember him for his love of Douglas and providing his wealth of knowledge of Douglas and Cochise County history.
A memorial service will be held January 7 at 11 a.m. at Brown Page Mortuary and burial of his cremains to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer's Association.
The Manley family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Casa de la Paz Hospice staff and his caregivers, Maricela Medrano and Brenda Lopez for their wonderful care and compassion during his illness.
