Obituary

Robert (Bobby) Norman Benson, 78, went home to our almighty father on February 18th, 2017. Bobby arrived in this world on April 20, 1938 in Douglas and was the eldest of three children born to his loving parents Norman and Ethelene Benson. Bobby graduated from Douglas High in 1957 and enrolled in the University of Arizona. After attending the University for one year he joined the United States Navy where he spent 4 years on active duty as a corpsman specializing in laboratory and diagnostic procedures. After his military service Bobby returned to Douglas where he worked as a medical laboratory technician and eventually a laboratory supervisor. He was an active member of the Douglas Rotary Club and served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Southeast Arizona Medical Center. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, music, video games, and spending time with family and friends. His lighthearted and cheerful personality brought joy to everyone around him and he is deeply missed by all that knew him. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James (Jimmy) and his sister Terrell (Terry). He is survived by his nieces, nephews and cousins. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
