Obituary

Richard Leo Harmon entered eternal life on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.

Son of Donald Cook Harmon and Annabelle Dane Harmon, Richard "Rick" Harmon, was born on December 24th, 1952 in Carbondale, Illinois.  It was through his early years of life, as a child, that he learned from his mother to be of service to others and always had a goal to help others in need.

Rick graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, AZ.  He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors in Sociology.  He had hopes in studying Forestry, but life directed him towards a path of outreach and service in many forms.  He served his fellow community through his employment with the Department of Economic Security, Child Protective Services, US Customs, and Adult Probation.  He was also a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and was an active member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Douglas.  He was a man of many talents, interests, and had a profound faith in God.  His love for his family and friends, for nature and devotion of God will continue in the legacy of his children, grandchildren and generations to come.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Harmon.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years of marriage, Dolores Santana Harmon, daughters Christina Harmon Grossman (Matthew Grossman), Alexis Nasser (Francisco Nasser), grandchildren David, Solomon, Samuel, and Mirianna, and his sister Donna.  He is also survived by an extended family of the Santanas, Jimenez, Ullmans, Greens, Howards, Nassers and family, who always gave him the sense of family connection and love he so deserved.

Services will be on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Douglas, AZ.  A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 am, following with a Mass at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Douglas Special Olympics and Douglas ARC.
