Norma Galindo Meza (Better known as “Nomi”) 05.22.1961 - 08.15.2026

Nomi was born and raised in Douglas, Arizona. After graduating from Douglas High School in 1979, she later attended Cochise College.

At the age of 19, Nomi started working for the City of Douglas. During her years of service, she worked at the following departments: Douglas Public Library, City Hall-Administration, and finally Douglas Fire Department, where she spent the last 21 years of her career. While at Douglas Fire Department (DFD), she was the Administrative Assistant and considered DFD her second family. During her employment with DFD, she was very active with the U.S. Marine Corps League Detachments Toys for Tots and Food Baskets for families in need in Douglas and surrounding areas. Nomi retired from the City of Douglas after 39 years of dedicated service.

Upon retirement, she loved spending time with her family and found joy in tending to her garden, especially her beautiful flowers such as bird of paradise, succulents, rose bushes and bougainvillea. Nomi had the best time when traveling through Arizona to support her grandson (her Cowboy), Austen Munoz, as he participated in countless rodeo events. Austen was Nana’s pride and joy, and their bond will continue to hold a special place in his heart. Another favorite pastime of hers was working on arts and crafts, especially her beautiful holiday wreaths that she gifted to family and friends. Nomi also enjoyed listening and dancing to country, Tex Mex, and Mexican music. She loved attending to concerts and comedy shows with her family and friends. In the kitchen, she enjoyed making her delicious cornbread and Austen’s favorite Fideo soup.

Nomi was also an American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary Member. She volunteered her time at Taco Tuesdays, Tailgaterz events, was active with the Douglas Food Bank, and Douglas Relay for Life for many years. She was a proud member at St. Bernards Catholic Church where she dedicated her time to her never-wavering faith.

Nomi is survived by: her mother, Norma D. Galindo; her sons, Jesus Ernesto (Jesse) Munoz (Delyssa Anaya), Gavino Omar Meza (Arianda Villanueva); her grandchildren, Dessani Duffy, Gatlin Duffy, Austen Muñoz, Erica Munoz, Carlos Munoz; her step children, Frank Meza Jr. (Sonia), Cynthia Lewis, Denise Meza; her sisters, Irasema (Frank) Carrillo, Ana Marisela Galindo (Javier Yslaba), Bertha (Rene) Estrada; Comadre-Sister Friends, Lucy Perez, and Juanita Arvizu, better known as the “Golden Girls”.

Nomi is also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, additional family members, and many close friends who will cherish her memory.

Preceded in death by: her husband, Frank E. Meza; her father, Baldemar T. Galindo; her grandmother, Apolonia Mazon Borquez; and her nephew, Frank Carrillo Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Brown Page Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am on Friday, August 2, 2026 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial Will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers who will serve are Jesus E. Muñoz, Gavino O. Meza, Rene Estrada, Mario Novoa, Frank Carrillo Sr. and Frank Meza Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Austen Levi Munoz, Sophia Ivana Estrada, Alejandra Galindo and Ariana Galindo.
