Mercedes M. Vargas "Chela", 91, was reunited in heaven, with her beloved husband Julian, on July 23rd, 2016, in Phoenix, Arizona. Mercedes, long time resident of Douglas, Arizona, was born February 23, 1925, in Pirtleville, Arizona to Ramon and Josefa Molina. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 64 years, Julian Q Vargas. She is survived by son Julian M Vargas (Tina) and daughter Mary Rose Boatner (James) and daughter in law, Sylvia F. Vargas. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Raquel (Mark), Julian Javier (Jennifer), Gina, David (Tracy) and Sophia (Cory), and by 9 great grandchildren; Jordan, Mark Carlos, Sylvia Raquel, Memo "Billy", Ashley Rose, Gabby, Julian David, Robby and Emma. She is also survived by two sisters, Dolores Ramirez and Eva Stevens along with several nieces and nephews. We feel very blessed to have had this many years with our beloved Mercedes. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Church. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Douglas.
