Mariana
Montano
Nov 10, 1936 — Feb 25, 2024
Mariana "Marianita" Montaño, 87, of Douglas, AZ, entered into eternal rest at St. Mary's hospital on February 25, 2024.
Born on November 10, 1936 and raised in Oputo, Sonora, Marianita grew up with her brother Francisco Bacahui. She moved to Agua Prieta then Douglas after marrying her husband Jose "Lico" Montaño. She was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother, living her life serving her family to the fullest. Most importantly, she had a strong relationship with the Lord, faithfully attending St. Lukes Catholic Church for many years.
Marianita was well known for her smile and family stories. She enjoyed eating out with her grandson every Sunday morning and having her daughter and grandsons visit. She also loved to spend her time with her dog, Ruby, and referred to her as her "niña/daughter". She will be greatly missed, and her memory will live on with everyone that knew her.
Marianita is survived by her daughter Ana Montaño-Martinez and grandsons Jose Grijalva, Isaac Montaño, and Isaiah Castro. She was preceded in death by her mother Manuelita Bacahui, her husband Jose Montaño, and her brother Francisco Bacahui.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
