Maria Del Refugio Baldenegro, "Cookie", passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Cookie was born on January 13, 1933 to Angelita Falkez and Alfredo Carrillo Novoa in Douglas, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelita and Alfredo, her brothers Arnoldo F. Novoa, Alfredo F. Novoa, Teodoro F. Novoa and three infant daughters. Cookie is survived by her Children, Cecelia (Raul) Fraijo, Arturo M. Baldenegro, Michael (Margaret) Baldenegro and Ruben (Leticia) Baldenegro. Sister, Cecilia (Ruben) Aguilar, and sister-in-law, Aurora Novoa, along with 22 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cookie is also survived by 3 half-sisters and 2 half-brothers. Cookie was born and raised in Douglas and attended local schools. She worked at Pure Food Bakery, Telas Del Rey, The Grand Theater and Johnson's Cleaners. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, The Immaculate Conception Choir, and VFW Women's Auxiliary. She also did volunteer work at Immaculate Conception Church. Cookie was a devout Catholic her entire life and devoted her life to her family. She will be missed dearly by her family and her friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Brown Page Mortuary. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Gilbert Malu and Father Richard Tule officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers who will serve are Arturo Baldenegro, Michael Baldenegro, Ruben Baldenegro, Alfred Novoa, Daniel Novoa and Raul Fraijo. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Vincent De Paul or the Douglas Food Bank.
