Maria Jesus Portugal, affectionately known as Chu, was born on April 20, 1960, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. She peacefully passed away on June 7, 2024, in Douglas, AZ.

As a care giver, Maria dedicated her life to selflessly caring for others. She found joy in raising her grandchildren Fabian, Octavio, Anitza and Syah Meraz. She was immensely proud of this accomplishment.

Maria leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her daughters, Anna Maritza Vallejo (Carlos}, Jessica Marie Meraz and Tracy Michelle Meraz. Her grandchildren Dominic Tineo, Ivanna Vallejo, Jessie Vallejo, Santiago Beltran, Ariana Beltran and Giovanni Quiles. She also cherished her furry companions, Pupi, Chikis, and Princess.

Maria is survived by her brothers Jose Alonzo (Sally), Jesus Leonardo (Maria), Hector Manuel, Mario Alberto (Rosita) y Jorge Armando. Sisters Luz Maria, Sylvia Irene (Jorge) and Niece Gloria Annette that was raise by our grandmother Ana Luis Portugal.

Maria's defining personality traits included her strength, kindness, and hardworking nature. She was a friendly and social butterfly, always the life of the party. Dancing, cooking, and making memories with her family brought her immense joy. Her presence and infectious laughter impacted the lives of all those around her.

Maria was actively involved in caring for the elderly, demonstrating her compassion and dedication to helping others. Her Catholic faith provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life.

Maria Jesus Portugal will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
