Maria Luisa
"Paloma" Quinonez
Jan 2, 1940 — Aug 4, 2022
Maria Luisa "Paloma" Nieblas Quiñonez was born in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico on January 1, 1940 to Benancio and Maria Luisa Nieblas. She was the youngest of six sisters. Margarita "Mague" Ortega (deceased), Dolores (Lolita) Acuña (deceased), Amelia Cruz (deceased), Francisca (Panchita) Acosta, and Elvira Escarcega. Paloma was one of a kind lovely lady, full of life and very energetic! While in school, she enjoyed theater, musicals, and was selected for the lead role in many productions. She met her husband, Mario Quiñonez and established their home in Douglas, AZ. Their marriage lasted 55 years, until Mario passed away in 2013. Paloma was the mother of five children, Lupe Trujillo (Gene), Grace Luna (Mario), Ana Grijalva (Carlos), Mario Quiñonez, Jr., (Norma), and Michael Quiñonez Sr. (Araceli). Paloma was always surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sandy Ramirez, Elizabeth Ramirez, Christy R. Garcia (Jorge), Aaliyah Trujillo, Crystal Luna, Vanessa Luna, Aileen Luna, Carlos Grijalva Jr. (Lolita), Francisco Grijalva, Adrian Grijalva, Paulina Quiñonez, Carolina Quiñonez, Jessica Quiñonez, Michael Quiñonez Jr., and great grandchildren; Jorge Garcia Jr., Janessa Garcia, Julian Garcia, Alan Hoyos, and Gabriel Grijalva. She loved making food for family and friends and delivered meals to their homes. Paloma had a gigantic heart and loved helping others by driving them to their medical appointments and to the grocery store. She owned a neighborhood store " La Tiendita " where she was known for making her customers laugh. Paloma loved texting and speaking with family and friends on the phone. Many of us will truly miss speaking with her daily and listening to her while she discussed her novelas ! For an 82-year-old, she was sassy and ALWAYS looked amazing (can't forget her lipstick)! Paloma was current with the latest news, enjoyed social media, and boy could she work her iPhone utilizing (Siri). Every time you visited Paloma, you would be welcomed with delicious homemade food and would find her dancing and singing to music. Paloma attended so many of her family's sporting events, and you could always tell she was in the audience because of her cheering or arguing with the umpires. Paloma was a positive force in the lives of many. She left us peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2022 surrounded by family! She entered heaven, where we all know was received with open arms, music, and a party! May we all live our lives as Paloma did…smiling, singing, happy, full of life, lots of energy, dancing, with the love of keeping everyone together, and communicating with friends and family daily. You certainly will be remembered and your advice will always be cherished…we were very fortunate to have you and now we ALL have an angel protecting and watching us from HEAVEN!
