Maria R.
Alvarez
Aug 15, 1936 — Jun 10, 2026
In loving memory of Maria Rojas Alvarez. At the age of 89, Maria passed away peacefully in her home on June 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Agua Prieta, Sonora, on August 15, 1936.
Maria was a passionate seamstress, well known for her beautiful work and her talent for making dresses for special events. She loved spending time outdoors tending to her flower garden, especially her cherished orange trees, and caring for her pets. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidering, pastimes that brought her joy and comfort.
Her family will miss the stories she shared, including those passed down from her great‑grandmother, who was a Soldadera during the Mexican Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Alvarez, whom she lovingly cared for over many years.
Maria is survived by her daughters Imelda R. Luzania, Tere Lopez, and Cecilia Ortega; her sons Ricardo Rojas and Felipe Alvarez; as well as numerous grandchildren,
great‑grandchildren, and three great‑great‑grandchildren. One of her greatest blessings was living long enough to be surrounded by five generations of family who adored her. We were blessed to have had her in our lives for 89 years.
Maria and Ricardo lived in Phoenix for many years. After his passing, she returned to Douglas to live with her daughter, where she continued to be surrounded by love and family.
