Lupe G. Jordan, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, community activist, business woman, artist and devoted Catholic passed away January 1, 2020.

Born in Douglas, Arizona, Lupe truly was a woman of the greatest generation. It is that the greatest generation's "perseverance through difficult times is a testament to their extraordinary character. Their remarkable actions during times of war and peace ultimately made the United States a better place in which to live." This generation developed values of personal responsibility, duty, honor and faith. This was a true description of Lupe.

Lupe believed in community service and importance of giving back. She spent a lifetime making sure the residents of Douglas understood the importance of voting. She would laugh and say she was a "campaignaholic." Her legacy is comprised of many accomplishments, some of the few include playing softball with the Douglas Jitterbugs, a Hispanic woman's softback team during the WWII era; being a founding member of the Hispanic woman's organization, Club Selene; Cub Scouts leader, PTA President, woman business owner (Lues College Shop in the 60's); City Housing Board Member; and most recently, recipient of the Key to the City of Douglas. She never tired of her service to the community because she loved Douglas.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ramon (Hedgy) Jordan, her parents, Liborio and Anita Garcia, her brothers, Liborio, Jr. and John Garcia, and her sister, Theresa Monje. She is survived by her children, Ginny, Don, Lon and Wendy. Lupe was blessed with grandchildren, Tracy, Wendy, Erik, Celina, Majica, Alex and Phillip, as well as great grandchildren.

Services will be held as follows: Viewing on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Page Mortuary; Rosary and Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a graveside burial at Calvary Cemetery; A reception will be held for family and friends at the Gadsden Hotel on Friday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m.
