Obituary

Luis Carlos “Charlie” Romero, 49, went home with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Douglas, Arizona, six days before his 50th birthday. The unexpected loss of Charlie has left our family deeply saddened.

Charlie spent most of his life in Douglas but had also lived in Tucson and Albuquerque. He was born on Sunday, August 22, 1976, in Douglas, Arizona. He attended Flowing Wells High School, where he graduated in 1994 and received a scholarship to play baseball at Pima Community College.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Guadalupe “Lupe” Romero and Rosaura “Chagua” Romero; and his paternal grandparents, Estela “China” Romero and Manuel F. “Rey” Romero. He is survived by his parents, Manuel N. Romero and Linda Romero; his children, Naythan Romero, Vanessa Romero, and Deseray Romero; and his siblings, Manny Romero (Edith), Omar Romero (Crystal), Emmanuel Romero (Anahi), and Estella Romero; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.

Charlie will be remembered for his heart of gold and devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved everyone and always wanted the best for them. His love for music, dancing, and movies of all types will always remind us of his loving spirit. This was evident from his childhood, during his days as a DJ, and throughout his life until his passing. Charlie loved playing sports, including baseball and football, and was very proud of his karate skills. To know Charlie was to experience a life lived at full volume. Charlie spoke with colorful, unfiltered passion.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered. We invite everyone who loved Charlie to come together and celebrate his life with a visitation on August 27, 2026, at Brown-Page Mortuary, 910 F Avenue, Douglas, Arizona, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Rosary and Mass will be held starting at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 1211 E. 15th Street, with a Celebration of Life following from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 1325 G Avenue.
