Luis Alvarez, beloved teacher, mentor, and coach, entered into God's glory on July 30, 2025, at the age of 44. Born in Douglas, Arizona on October 2, 1980, Luis was the cherished son of Jesus and Maria Alvarez.

A dedicated educator and passionate leader, Luis devoted his life to uplifting others. In every classroom, on every field, and in every conversation, his focus remained unwavering: the growth, success, and well-being of his students and athletes, this was always his priority. He led with heart, purpose, and integrity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Luis inspired generations with his wisdom, compassion, and drive. His presence was a source of strength and encouragement, and his legacy will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students, colleagues, and the community he so selflessly served. Luis enjoyed life at every turn, he was a huge fan of baseball and of the Chicago Cubs, every football season was bitter sweet for him being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved music, especially his Beatles and all classic rock. He developed a love for the rock music of the 80'90's from Mexico, and South America. He loved going to concerts and he loved talking about music with everyone. For the Better part of the last 15 years he was fixture at Ray Borane Middle School, he was a teacher of writing, history and social studies, He was the student council sponsor for many years, he was the boys and girls basketball coach, and was the founder and coordinator of the famous Courgarchella Festival. His love for the Coachella Music festival gave him the idea to put together a fun event like the real one, where the kids can enjoy music and have fun. Luis was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, for many years he coordinated the "Coats for Kids" program where hundreds of warm coats would be distributed to kids every year. Luis volunteered with Douglas Little League Baseball for over 20 years. He was a manager, coach, player agent, and board member. He raised money every year for the many all-star teams that he coached or managed. Luis was a golfer, he played with a passion and enjoyed hitting the green with his golf buddies.

Luis leaves behind his partner in life, and best friend Alma, and the wonderful son he helped raise, Jason. (wife, Yesenia) and his pride and joy his grandsons, Bryce & Grayson. Luis is also survived by his beloved mother Maria, his brothers Jesus Jr. (wife, Delia) Ernesto, John & Joe. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and cousins, aunts and uncles. He will leave a countless number of friends, and students, and athletes, and colleagues to mourn his passing, for his impact was immeasurable without bounds. Mr. Luis Alvarez will leave a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten, and will be spoken about for years, and years to come.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 8, from 1:00pm to 7:00pm at Brown Page Mortuary with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00am a St. Luke's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers who will serve are John Alvarez, Ernesto Alvarez, Jason Sanez, Paul Villareal, Chris Escarcega, Gabriel Sanchez Christopher Escarcega Jr. and Ruben Leon Frisby.
