Linda Katharine Kleck passed away on June 5, 2018 in St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Linda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dale, her son Gary (Brenda), and her son Richie (Becky). She also survived by 4 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Linda was born in Jerome, Arizona to Gordon and Ressa Ollson, who preceded her in death. She moved to Bisbee, Arizona and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1957. Linda and Dale married in 1959.
Linda attended Arizona State College at Flagstaff (Northern Arizona University) where she received an undergraduate degree in Education and a Master's degree in Spanish in 1964. Linda also taught Spanish at Arizona State College and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority.
Linda moved to Douglas, Arizona in 1966 and began teaching at Douglas Junior High School. Over the course of 41 years of teaching, she also taught at Paul Huber Junior High School and Douglas High School. This included teaching English and English as a Second Language. While teaching at Douglas High School, she also directed the CHAMPS Program. She retired from the Douglas Public School District in 2007.
Linda served the Douglas Community in many capacities. She volunteered at the Mother's Day Cake Auction for over 40 years, volunteered with Cochise County Juvenile Court, and was a volunteer teacher within the juvenile probation system. Linda also served on the Advisory Committee and Board of Directors for the Southeastern Arizona Federal Credit Union.
Linda's passion was education and was proud to see many of her students go on to lead very successful lives. She especially enjoyed working with at risk children. She also had many friends in Batuc, Sonora, Mexico where she and Dale often spent time. They provided school and other supplies to the children of Batuc when visiting their second home. Linda always seemed to crocheting an afghan for the next newborn of family or friends.
A Rosary for Linda will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 also at St. Luke's Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
