Katherine Lucile Stickler Mangum was born on the 13th of January 1925 at the Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona to Fredrick Earl Stickler and Ophelia Lucile Jerrel Stickler. She was the first of three children. Her parents, her sister Ella May and her brother William Earl Stickler preceded her in death.

While attending high school in Bisbee Kay was head majorette for the Bisbee High School Band. She also played shortstop on a traveling women's softball team. Kay had a part time job at the Lyric Theater in Bisbee. It was there that she met artist Ted DeGrazia, who's studio was above the theater.

Kay married Ralph Howard (Knight) Mangum on 10 July 1943 in Cochise County. They moved to Terrerro, NM, a village in the Sangre de Cristos Mountains. Ralph was drafted into the Army during WW II. Kay moved back to Bisbee where she became a switch board operator for AT&T.

When Ralph returned home they moved to the Phoenix area where Ralph found work in the construction industry. They returned to Douglas in 1949 where Ralph began Western Home Builders and Western Roofing. Kay handled all of the bookkeeping for the companies, as well as raising their four growing children.  She also worked for a time as a bookkeeper at Cochise College. She later became involved in Ralph's mining operations in Mexico. They traveled throughout Mexico.  Kay always enjoyed traveling and she enjoyed dancing. She taught her oldest son to dance in the kitchen of their home. In her more senior years she joined the Silver Slippers dancing group.

She belonged to the Douglas Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kay was a devoted wife and mother to her children; John William; Susan Kay; Howard Clark and Jeffry Scott. Kay has 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was very loved and will be missed.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm on Saturday, 14 July 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2700 East 15th Street, Douglas, AZ 85607 with Funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
