Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of our Sweet Loving Mother, Josefina Acuna Perotti. She finally got her Golden ticket to Heaven at 102 3/4 yrs old, to be in Eternal Happiness with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She died peacefully in her own home of 70+ years, surrounded by her Loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 ½ years of Marriage, Ernesto Perotti. Also, deceased are her Brother Jose and Sister Tia Maria "Cuca" Quezada, and her Sweet Cousin, Tia Julia Ramirez, who was like a sister to her. She is survived by her Dear sister, Guadalupe Acuna from El Paso, Texas. Mama is also survived by her six children who she treasured very much. They are Eva Monica Perotti, who was mother's caregiver for many years. Ernest Perotti, Jr. (John Ruff), Terri Jimenez (Rudy), Delia Ghost (Dave), Joseph Frank Perotti (Lucy), Rosie Pedraza. She is also Nana to 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Our mother was born in Jecori, Sonora on November 27, 1921 to Pedro Acuna and Theresa Cordova Acuna. She was a hard worker as a young child, she learned to milk their cow and do chores on the farm. She loved the freedom of the outdoors and would play in the river whenever she could. She came to work in Douglas at a young age after she obtained her Green card, and later in life, she obtained her US Citizenship which was always one of her goals. She was always guided in life by Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. She became second mother to her young sisters when their parents had died at an early age. Josefina loved Douglas, Arizona and worked in various places including the Gadsden Hotel and met her future husband at one of the army USO dances. They married a year later just after WWII ended. She was a wonderful Mother, homemaker, and beloved Wife. She was a fantastic cook, had the ability to make dishes like albondigas soup and other things from memory just like her mother made. She would make mouth-watering tortillas with butter and tasty sopas and pozole, and all kinds of Mexican food including a spicy salsa. Mama enjoyed eating a hot bowl of menudo con la pata, which was one of her favorites.

Mama would know many prayers and songs by heart and had a great memory for telephone numbers and birthdays. She had a great Smile and Laugh and would always make people feel better and spread Happiness everywhere. She was kind and was always ready to help someone in need. She raised her children to have Kindness and Love for others. Our mother taught us to appreciate the life we were given and to make the most of everyday, to see the joy in the smallest good deed and to love animals and people. She was a Prayer Warrior, always praying the Rosary for her family and friends everyday. The grace of God always shined on her with God giving her a long, happy life. She instilled a love of learning to her children and was proud that all her children graduated from high school and that they continued in their Catholic faith. She also took great pride that her son Joseph Frank Perotti became a deacon in the Saint Mother of Sorrows Church in Tucson, Arizona. She was a long-standing Faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mother Josefina will be missed Dearly by her Children, her Sister Lupe, family, and friends. We will keep her very close in our Hearts and she will be our new Guardian Angel. She is starting her new adventure in Heaven as a child of Jesus Christ and she is Smiling.

On 24 August, at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglas, a Rosary will begin at 10:15 am and will be followed by Mass at 11:00 am and burial. Flowers can be sent to Brown Page Mortuary in care of David Escarcega. Donations to Saint Vincent de Paul in her name would be greatly appreciated to provide food to families and people in need.
