Josefina "Chepina" Echeribel Perez, 93, a longtime Douglas resident passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Vicente "Chente" Perez, her granddaughter Cynthia Diane Perez, parents Dolores and Ramona Echeribel her sisters Lilia Parlier and Sista Moore, her brother Alejandro Echeribel, and her son- in- law Ramon "Quack" Tellez.
Josefina is survived by her Daughters, Helen (Manuel) Villanueva of Douglas, Yolanda Schroeder of Redondo Beach, California, Grace (Frank) Rivera of Douglas, Maggie (Ramiro) Rivera of Douglas, Diane (Mark) Lalic of Torrance, California, Carol (Frank Pinon) Perez of Douglas, Sons, Vicente Perez, Jr., of Douglas and Fernando Perez of Phoenix, AZ. Sister- in- law, Ana Perez of Pirtleville, AZ. sisters, Amalia Vega, Patricia Carranza, and Esther Echeribel, brothers, Hector Echeribel and Alex Echeribel and her doggie "Rosie". Josefina was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt. Josefina is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children.
Josefina was born in Hachita, New Mexico on September 11, 1930. Josefina was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary-Post 11 and was a lifetime parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Pirtleville, AZ. Josefina dedicated herself to her family and church activities. Her hobbies were crocheting, raising cattle, making cheese, swine, chickens, camping, and gardening. Josefina enjoyed going to "THE LAND" for family gatherings, where she enjoyed spending time with her family. Josefina worked at the Owl Drug and retired from the Douglas Unified School District #27.
She will be extremely missed by all of us and those who knew and loved her. Even though she will be gone she will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, July 19th at St Bernard's Catholic Church in Pirtleville, AZ. With a Rosary being recited at 10:15 am followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Pirtleville, AZ
Pallbearers who will serve are, Francisco Perez, Bernardo Perez, David Schroeder, Frank Rivera, Jr., Gabriel Rivera, Miguel Villanueva, Alex Perez
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Danny Rivera, Frank Rivera III, Fernando Perez Jr., Estevan Villanueva and Michael A. Rivera.
