On April 5, 2017, Jose C. "Chato" Rivera went to be with our Lord. He was surrounded by his loving family at his time of death. He was born June 6, 1941 in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico and was a long time resident of Douglas. Well known all over, especially for his job of over 20 years at Southern Arizona Distributors (Budweiser). Jose is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Juana, who never left his side in good times or bad. Also survived by his four loving children and their families Jose (Christina), Ruben (Cruz), Sergio (Oralia) and Lupe (Alberto); he leaves behind 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One of his fondest memories was playing baseball for the Vaqueros and Equipo Tecate from Agua Prieta. He was also one of the biggest Dodgers fans you could have ever met. He always put a smile on somebody's face anywhere he'd go whether he was telling a joke or simply saying hello. Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all. As patriarch of his family he was the heart and soul. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 also at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me." A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
