Jacqueline K. 'Jackie' Deiss left this earthly world to join the angels on May 5, 2015. Jackie was only 54 when she passed, and left a us mourning the loss of a young woman full of love for her family and an ongoing curiosity of life and the world around her. Jackie was born September 1, 1960 in Flagstaff, Az, and was soon adopted by her loving parents, Eugene and Kathryn Deiss.
Raised in Douglas, Jackie attended the Company of Mary pre-school, Loretto and the Douglas school system. She also had classes through Vision Quest, and then made her way into the world. She lived for many years in Mesa, Az. where she loved working with animals in a variety of jobs, and also worked for a clothing company creating T-shirts and other clothing design articles. In the late 90's Jackie returned to the Douglas area, and continued to live here until her death. Though her life had its struggles, her ability to find love in her heart for most everyone and to find the best in those that she knew made her special to those that really knew and loved her. Throughout her youth and into her adult life, Jackie enjoyed the mountains and desert areas of southern Arizona. She loved to look for ancient Indian artifacts, and had the eye for finding arrowheads, pottery and other artifacts. She always enjoyed looking for and finding things, and loved to show family her newly found treasures. Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Eugene 'Boots' Deiss. She is survived by her mother, Kathryn 'Kitty' Deiss, whom she loved with all of her heart. She is also survived by her brother Andy, her sister-in law Margie, nieces Aniz, Aleli, Jennifer and Jill, as well as many grand-nieces and nephews. Jackie is also survived by her ex-husband Ron Clarke of West Virginia. She also leaves behind her dog and constant companion Osa. We will all miss the character we knew as Jackie, but most importantly the unconditional love and spirit that made her unique. Jackie, you were one of a kind, and we will all miss you! A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, followed by a small celebration of life at the American Legion of Douglas.
