Obituary

Herminia Arvayo Esqueda, 101, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014 while surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents Trinidad S. Arvayo and Maria Jesus Arvayo, her husband, Jose "Chacuni" Esqueda, her sons Jesus A. Esqueda, Sr. of Willcox, Az. and Manuel "Sam" Esqueda of Douglas, AZ. She is survived by her son Jose Esqueda of Douglas, Arizona; daughters Jennie Esqueda Barraza and Paquita Esqueda Roqueni of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Herminia was born in Churunibabi, Sonora, Mexico and immigrated to Douglas as a child where she spent most of her years with family and friends. She later moved to Mesa, Arizona where she spent her remaining years with her daughter, Jennie Esqueda Barraza and family.

A Rosary will be recited at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (928 C. Avenue, Douglas, AZ) on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated for Herminia at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Burial services will follow at Calvary Cemetery (aka City of Douglas Cemetery, 1501 - 5th. Street).
Pallbearers who will serve are Robert Barraza, Ruben J. Barraza, Bill Duncan, Danny Esqueda, Raymond Esqueda, John Schroeder, Adrian Martinez and Andres Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben V. Barraza, Jose Esqueda, Angel Esqueda, Jesus Esqueda, Jr., Tomas Roqueni, Fernando Roqueni, Jr., Fernando Roqueni, Sr., Armando Moulinet, Art Rivas and Javier Armenta.
