Obituary


Hector Montano Salinas was born in Douglas, Arizona on June 14, 1950.and passed away on February 7th, 2023, while surrounded by loving family members.

Hector attended local schools and went on to attend Douglas High School where he graduated in 1969. He then attended Cochise College earning his AA degree. He would later go on to earn his bachelor's degree in business at Western International University.

For most of his adult life he was very involved in the Douglas/Pirtle Ville community where he served in various projects. He was a council member for the city of Douglas for 12 years, and then later became involved in the P.C.A.N (Pirtle Ville Community Action Network). He was active in many projects involving the PEP, Los Orebro's, he was also a member of the Douglas Veterans Commemoration Project, and many other efforts that helped the underprivileged and underserved members of our society. He was also instrumental in the design of the Douglas veteran's memorial, which is located in front of the visitors center that honors those killed in action in the various wars of those serving in their respective branches within the United States Military in the Douglas community. He was also involved with the Brown/ Campas annual baseball tournament and enjoyed it very much every year.

He was predeceased in death by his parents Antonio and Blanca Salinas, daughter Maricela Moore, and brothers Rene Salinas, and Antonio Salinas Jr.

Hector is survived by his wife Mary Vega Salinas, his four children Francisco (Monica) Parra, Erick Parra, Blanca Salinas, and Hector Ricardo Salinas Jr. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are brothers Alfonso (Brenda) Salinas, Rufino (Blanca) Salinas, and sisters Ana Luisa Salinas, Minerva (Armando) Fernandez, and Sandra (Everardo) Leon. He also leaves behind his Primo/ Brother Sergio (Ana) Mendez.

Funeral Services for Hector Salinas will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church. Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. and will be followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 am. Burial services to follow at Cavalry Cemetery. Celebration of life will follow at the American Legion on 1325 G avenue in Douglas, Az.

Tots will be greatly missed as he was a light in all the lives he impacted. We all love you, Hector Salinas.
