Obituary

Guy (Sonnyboy) Earlscott Wilber III passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was born on February 11, 1935 in Lewiston, Maine to Guy Earlscott Wilber and Dorothy Jeanette Wilber. After the death of his father, Guy spent most of his childhood years living in Auburn Maine with his grandparents but one of the things he said he really enjoyed was spending his summer helping his Uncle Arthur in China, Maine. As a teenager he moved to Boston with his mother. At sixteen years of age he joined the National Guard. Two years later he joined the Navy and spent most of the time at sea enjoying his visits to places like Japan and China during his two tours. After his completion of his term with the Navy in 1962 he moved to California and worked as a Maintenance Superintendent for Barrington Plaza. A few years later he started his own business called 5 Star Maintenance. Eventually he sold the business and moved to Douglas. For years he served as Director of Environmental Services at SEAMC. He volunteered for many years at the Red Cross and eventually became the Executive Director. One of his main objectives was to safely transport the elderly and veterans to their appointments around Southeastern Arizona. He did this until he retired in 2000. In 1980 he re-enlisted in the Naval Reserves. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Bushmasters and the AMVETS.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martina Romero. He is survived by his wife, Maria Wilber, his children, David Romero, Sabrina (Fred) Zamora, Guy (Ana) Wilber IV, Athina Mancha, Cathy (Rodney) Lindsey and Bernadette Cornidez. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. You will always be in our hearts, We Love You!
