Obituary

Guadalupe L. Young, a beacon of love, grace and loyalty, blessed this world with her wonderful presence for 88 remarkable years.  On January 18th she passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family.  Lupe was born on October 18, 1935, in the pueblo of Tunadepa, Sonora, Mexico to Salvador and Rosaura Lopez.  She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Albert and children, Francisco (Linda), Linda Zamora (Manuel), Albert John (Johnna), Monica Dickey (Larry), and Tony (partner Lupita), fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister, Carolina Gomez and brothers, Salvador, Fernando and Alfredo Lopez.  Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leonardo Lopez, sister, Rosalia Bernal and daughter-in-law, Linda.

Lupe was devoted to her Catholic faith and a very active member of Immaculate Conception Church where she served on the Altar Society, assisted parish staff with various duties and tirelessly cooked and baked for the church's annual fundraising bazaars.  As a Columbiette she donated countless empanadas and burritos for Friday Night Bingo and barbeques at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Lupe was locally known to many as the "Cake Lady" for her talent in creating delicious and beautiful cakes for any occasion.  For the past 60+ years her amazing food was a staple for numerous Churches, charities, and organizational fundraisers.  It would be highly unusual for one of her cakes not to earn the highest bid at the Annual D.A.R.C. Mother's Day Auction.   In addition, she taught cake decorating classes and genuinely was happy to share her skill set with anyone desiring to learn.

Lupe's life journey was a testament to her unwavering love of God, her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

Pallbearers will be David Zamora, Don Dickey, Tony Young Jr., Brandon Young,  Robbie Young and Joey Young.

Honorary Pallbearers are Frank Young, Albert John Young, Tony Young, Manuel Zamora and Larry Dickey.
