Obituary

Guadalupe Molina Morales passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 21, 2015.
Born in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico on July 14, 1920, to Evaristo Lucero Molina and Guadalupe Santamaria de Molina, 'Lupita' (as she was lovingly called) was educated in Agua Prieta and thus found her life-long passion for education and eventually began teaching there. She was also known for her singing performances on local Mexican radio stations ~ for she had always had a love of music and dancing. She met and married the love of her life, Esequiel, on March 4, 1939, and in 1943, they moved and made their home in Douglas with their ever-growing family. Along with raising her children, Lupita, continued teaching – only this time it was catechism classes for children in preparation for their First Holy Communion. She was quite active as a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. She was a cursillista and loved performing in the church choir (sometimes alongside her grandchildren). Lupita had a youthful spirit and was always ready to share stories and jokes ~ laughter was a must. We cannot forget one of her favorite pastimes ~ traveling to Las Vegas with a tour bus and playing those slot machines – especially good ol' Big Bertha. Lupita was preceded in death by her husband, Esequiel Baez Morales Sr. (1996); brothers: Evaristo, Ruben and Andres Molina; and daughters: Virginia (1940) and Guadalupe (1959). She is survived by her sons, Esequiel Jr. (Yolanda I "Guerra") and David; her daughters: Catalina; Carolina; Virginia (Ismael Sr. I "Negro"); Irma (Luis Sr."Kiko"); Carmen (Rudy); Irene (Ken); Sandra; and Letty (Adalberto); 39 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren. 'Nana Lupita' loved her family and was so very proud of each and every one. Her infectious smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Rosary will be recited at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 10:30 am ~ followed by a celebration of her life Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
