Obituary

Graciela Noriega Enriquez, of Douglas, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024, after 95 years of a life full of love, laughter and tears. She was born on July 21, 1928, in Miami, Arizona to Manuel and Hortencia Noriega and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ramon Enriquez, her parents, and her siblings, Adolfo Noriega, Hilda Diaz, Bertha Mata, Francis Rodriguez, Norma Torres and Fr. Arnoldo Noriega.

She is survived by her brother Manuel Noriega and sister Clarissa Mercer, as well as her five children: Clarissa (Santos) Davila, Leticia (Joe) Mendez, Yolanda (Peter) Aguilar, Ray (Paty) Enriquez and Frank (Gwen) Enriquez; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several great step grandchildren.

Graciela was a beloved mother, grandmother, Nanita and friend who was committed to her faith and her family. She loved singing in the church choir and when asked, was not shy to sing for family and friends. One of her proudest moments was when the choir director at Immaculate Conception Church visited her home to ask her parents' permission for her to be in the choir because he said, "she has a beautiful voice." The memories she shared most often and with great joy were those of the love of her life, Ramon. With a beautiful twinkle in her eyes, she would blush and giggle as she told of the love letters they exchanged while Ramon was in the Army. She read them to her grandchildren and reminded them how she was allowed to date Ramon unchaperoned because he made First Friday visits to church. The family is happy they are reunited after so many years apart.

Her faith in God molded her family. With a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Graciela embodied her protection and care for the less fortunate. She donated her time, prayed and provided for those in need, especially the underprivileged in Agua Prieta, Mexico. Many credit her intercession for answered prayers and granted petitions.

Graciela's distinct voice, whether it was praying, singing, laughing, or sharing a piece of thoughtful advice, will be missed, and her life will be remembered by all who were touched by her kindness and love.

A rosary will take place on July 5, 2024, at 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 928 C Avenue, Douglas, AZ, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
