Gilberto entered eternal life on Tuesday April 9, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Gilberto was born in Douglas, Arizona on September 24, 1942 and graduated from Douglas High School in 1961. He was a big fan of the Douglas Bulldogs, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona Cardinals, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was also an avid golfer who loved playing on the Douglas Golf Course with friends and family. He worked at the Phepls Dodge Copper Smelter in Doulgas for 16 years until its closing, when he then went to work for the Arizona Department of Corrections and retired as a Seargeant at the age of 62.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his parents Gilberto & Francisca Fuentes and his brother Ricardo Fuentes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Alicia Fuentes, sister Cecilia Grondin, son Gilberto Fuentes Jr., daughters: Cecilia Jones, Norma Harrigan, grandchildren: Gilberto, Sabrina, Alexis, Marcos, Benny, Isidro, Myranda, David, Samantha, Elizabeth, Krystyl, great grandchildren: Mya, Nico, Liliani, Aviel, Marinelle, Andres, Isidro Jr., Ethan, Leilani, Braelynn, Evelynn, Naythan, Nayeli, Ivette, and Jenissa.

Services will be on Saturday April 20, 2024 at Brown-Page Mortuary in Douglas, Arizona at 10:00 am with Inurnment to follow at the Calvary Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Douglas Country Club following the burial.
