Gilbert A. Aguilar Jr. passed away peacefully at Haven Health Nursing Home in Douglas on Saturday, March 26, 2016, surrounded by his of wife of 52 years, Virginia, his children and grand children. Born August 5, 1940, to Gilbert Aguilar Sr. and Guadalupe Aparicio Aguilar. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Norma Alicia Aguilar. His surviving siblings are Lupita (Dan) Carpio of San Antonio, TX, Lydia Henningsen of Tucson, and Tony Aguilar of Tucson. Gilbert was born in Douglas, AZ and was a 1959 Douglas High School graduate and a four-year student at the University of Arizona. He married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Robles, and made their home in Douglas, AZ where they raised seven children: Gilbert (Brenda) Aguilar III of Douglas, AZ, Teresa (Pedro) Osorio of Tucson, AZ, David (Lorena) Aguilar of Goodyear, AZ, Monica (Carlos) Lomeli of Oro Valley, AZ, Lisa (Amanda) Sprentz of Tucson, AZ, Richard (Denise) Aguilar of Albuquerque, NM. The family grew to include nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Gilbert worked for many years in the field of finance beginning his career at City Loan, Valley National Bank, and retiring from Arizona Family Care and Associates Clinic as their Administration Financial Manager. He enjoyed reading, collecting stamps and coins, but most importantly spending time with his family and beautiful grandchildren. The Aguilar Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Haven Health in Douglas, AZ. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Brown Page Mortuary from 1 to 5 p.m. with a Holy Rosary being recited at St. Luke Church at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday April 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Luke Church. Pallbearers who will serve are Gilbert Aguilar III, David Aguilar, Richard Aguilar, Tony Aguilar, Carlos Lomeli and Pedro Osorio. Our father will be laid to rest immediately after Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Douglas.
