Jul 21, 1944 — Feb 26, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Father Arnoldo Noriega of Douglas, Arizona, announce his passing on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born on July 21, 1944 to Manuel and Hortencia Noriega and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Adolfo Noriega, Hilda Diaz, Bertha Mata, Francis Rodriguez and Norma Torres.
He is survived by his brother, Manuel Noriega and his two sisters, Graciela Enriquez and Clarissa Mercer, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Father Arnoldo grew up in Douglas and was a 1963 graduate of Douglas High School. He was ordained a Catholic priest on December 13, 1975.
Father Arnoldo Noriega was a faithful and very humble servant of God and a beloved member of the Catholic community throughout the state of Arizona. He also has had the opportunity to serve God's people in several other countries and has grown to appreciate their cultures as well as his own. Fr. Noriega resided in Elfrida assisting many parishes in the Diocese of Tucson and ministering to the people of God until his death. One of his favorite sayings was "Primero Dios." He will be lovingly remembered by all.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him."
