Engel A Sabin Jr., 89 of Tucson passed away peacefully on Saturday April 2 ^nd . He was born in Douglas, AZ on May 12 ^th , 1932, to Belen (Valdez) Sabin and Engel A. Sabin Sr. He was one of nine siblings.

Engel is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emma and their four children George A Sabin (Mary), Suzanne Sabin (Cliff Gyves), Leilani Nissen (Tim Lawless), Claudia Allen (Todd) and nine grandchildren, Cynthia Amezquita (Edward Michael), Court Nissen, Emily Nissen, Grant Gyves, Paxton Gyves, James Nissen, Eric M. Sabin, Emma Allen, and Kalyn Allen.

Engel is also survived by his brother Patrick Sabin of San Jose, CA. He is preceded in death by seven siblings:  Albert Munoz, Mercedes "Mitzi" Aguirre, Manuel "Allen" Sabin, Ana Morio, Irish "Thomas" Sabin, Joseph "Roly" Munoz, and George D. Sabin. He is known as "Jr." to many and "Uncle Jr, Tio Lingo, or Tio Guero" to his surviving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews. To some who could not pronounce "Engel" he was known as "Guero," "Lingo," "Angel," or "Sabin."

He served in the United States Navy as an Airman during the Korean Conflict/War from January 1952 to December 1955. He was assigned to the Carrier Ship USS Valley Forge CV-45. During those years he experienced more travel than many do in a lifetime having sailed to Korea, Japan, San Diego, Hawaii, Norfolk, and Eastern Atlantic including, England, Ireland, and Spain. He never spoke much of his travels but when pressed he spoke most fondly of Spain.

Our father was a cheerful man. He was always smiling and interested in good conversation. He always liked to invite family over on Sunday mornings for breakfast pancakes. During family get-togethers, he was at his best grilling carne asada or burgers for those he loved.  He was a kind man that was always willing to share his handyman skills with anyone that asked. During his residency in Douglas, he worked for the County of Cochise and eventually Phelps Dodge Copper Smelter. By 1988 he moved to Tucson and worked a variety of jobs including construction, Tucson Medical Center then Hughes (now Raytheon) and enjoyed handyman side jobs from time to time. He was officially retired for the last 20+ years.

A viewing is scheduled for Saturday morning, April 23 ^rd from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Brown-Page Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow at the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:15 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM. (Please be advised, the church is requesting everyone follow mask protocols). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 11.  Pallbearers are Kalyn Allen, James Nissen, Paxton Gyves, Eric M. Sabin, Grant Gyves and Court Nissen. Honorary Pallbearers are Francisco Arvizu, Mario Moreno II, Fernando Moreno, and Emma Allen.
