Emma C. Grubb, 75, of Douglas, Arizona, passed away on May 5, 2015. Born in Jecori, Sonora, Mexico on September 30, 1939, Emma immigrated to Douglas and became a United States citizen. Having been a school teacher in Mexico, Emma was a natural at taking care of children, running and operating a number of child care centers for the past 40 plus years. Emma has helped raise several generations of children who would bring their children and eventually their grandchildren to her for care. Emma loved playing the piano and was an active member of a number of choirs that played at churches throughout the Douglas area. Emma was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church and dedicated numerous hours of her time playing at Weddings, Quinceaneras, Funerals and other church functions. Emma and her husband Morrie were married for 49 years and raised seven children, four of whom are military veterans. Emma is survived by her husband Morrie, sons Rene Noriega (Kim), Edward Noriega (Elizabeth) and Charles (Chuck) Grubb (Holly); daughters Marisela Hosseini (Mojtaba), Susan Thurnbeck (Ed), twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister Maria Eloina Hoke, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Emma is preceded in death by Enriqueta Portugal de Cordova (Mother), Luis Noriega (son) and Michael Grubb (son). Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 928 C Avenue (10th St. & C Ave.). A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Immaculate Conception Hall. Pallbearers who will serve are Rene Noriega, Edward Noriega, Chuck Grubb, Ed Thurnbeck, Moji Hosseini and E.J. Noriega. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Noriega, Avery Grubb, Alex Grubb, George Hoke, Carlos Hoke, Robert Hoke & Ghery Fimbres. Rest in peace, Emma. You touched many lives and will be missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
