Emerita T. Aquino, 69, returned to her heavenly home on February 14, 2015, after a brave battle with a long illness. Emerita's devotion to her family and her patients and her solid belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Emerita (known by different people as Amy, Emy, Emmie, Emer, Mommy, Ma, and Lola) was born in Tambubong, San Rafael, Bulacan, Philippines on January 13, 1946 to Gregorio and Mercedes Taruc. On December 31, 1977 she married Felix R. Aquino. Together they started their family in San Francisco, and then moved to Douglas to follow her aspirations of owning a care home for the elderly. She was a very caring and compassionate woman who put the needs of others, especially the elderly, before her own. On April 16, 1984 they moved to Douglas and opened Cypress Inn Assisted Living Care. Emerita is survived by her husband Felix; 3 children, Heidi (Joel), Greg (Eileen), and Monica; 3 grandchildren, Logan, Parker, and Ethan; and siblings, Flordeliza, Armando, Ernesto, Mercedita, and Normita. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bienvenido, Conchita, and Romeo. Emerita was a devout Catholic, a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, a hardworking caregiver, and a faithful friend who had an abundance of love to share. She will be greatly missed by all whom she touched. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18th at Brown-Page Mortuary from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19th at 10:30 am at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Additional visitation and funeral service will follow in San Francisco, California. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
