Ella V. Griffin passed away on December 14, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona.  Ella was born on May 8, 1922 to Dewey B. and Lillian Stewart Bess.  The family resided in San Antonio until November of 1932 when they moved to Douglas, where Ella was raised and attended school.   After her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper for the local County and Phelps Dodge hospitals.  She also provided cleaning services for doctor offices and other local businesses.  In 1955 she became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served in many positions including Chapter Secretary, Grand Recording Secretary, Grand Secretary, Grand Lecturer and Worthy Matron.  She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend.  Ella was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marjorie A. Primes Rembert, brothers Waymon G. Bess, Alan W. Bess and Alfred "Sonny" Bess, Sister Joyce F. Wilson and aunt and uncle Nevada and Agustus Stewart.   She is survived by her grandson Damian C. Rembert and sons, nephews Johnny Bess and Waymon Bess, Jr., cousins Arthur Steward, Carl Steward, Azalea and children; Michael, Logan, Paul, Elissa, Love, D'Andre, Jaia, Elijah, Avani, David, Musa, and Achmed along with extended family Margie Gomez and Benny Boutte and members of the Stewart, Lewis and Bryant families along with the Harris, Miller and Williams families of San Antonio, Texas.
