Elia I. Montes de Oca

October 3, 1938- January 18, 2026

Elia Montes de Oca, 87, passed away peacefully January 18, 2026, at La Paz Assisted Living in Tucson, Arizona. She was married to her loving husband Andres R. Montes de Oca for more than 50 years who passed away in 2005.

Elia is proceeded in death by her granddaughter Lina Montes de Oca and her grandson Juan Carlos Montes de Oca.

She is survived by her 10 children, Irene Goldsworthy (John  ), Maria Montes de Oca, David Montes de Oca (Rebecca), Richard Montes de Oca (Monica  ), Camille Montes de Oca, Edward Montes de Oca (Debbie), Elvia Friend, Vivian Montes de Oca, Gustavo Montes de Oca and Steven Montes de Oca who will forever cherish her memory.

Elia was born in Fronteras, Mexico to her Father Martin Martinez and Guadalupe V. Iriqui. Elia was the eldest of 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Elia had many friends and relatives in Mexico and Arizona. Elia had 26 grandchildren and over 50 great grandchildren.

Nana Elia enjoyed her family, music, and had a great sense of humor. She also enjoyed sewing and painting and collecting hummingbirds.

Elia's rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 6th, at Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas, AZ. A funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's Church in Pirtleville, Arizona on Saturday, February 7th, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Pirtleville.
