Earl Glenn Phagan, Douglas native, local businessman passed away September 2, 2017. Earl was born to L.W. and Ester May Phagan on August 7, 1933. He attended Douglas Public Schools. Earl met and married Patrician Conrey in 1952. They had two children Steven Glenn Phagan and Elizabeth K. Phagan. He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Steven (Deborah) Phagan, Morgantown, WV; daughter Elizabeth Phagan; brother, Clifford (Jacquie) Phagan; sister in laws Ana Phagan and Sally Conrey, Tucson, AZ. Grandchildren Eric (Kendie) Phagan Nashville, TN, Sean Phagan, Sherman Oaks, CA, and Garrett Boss. Nieces and nephews, Scott Phagan, Tucson, AZ , Deanna Phagan,Tucson, AZ, Philp Phagan, David (Rosa) Phagan Jr. Yuma, AZ, Donna Phagan, PA, James (Jan) Thwaits, Casa Grande, AZ and Tim (Michelle) Cabarga, Phoenix, AZ. Great grandchildren, Dylan Phagan, Seyvinn Teran, and CJ Phagan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Junior Phagan, Vernon Phagan, and David Phagan. Niece Gayle Thwaits and nephews James Phagan and John Cabarga. Earl left school before his high school graduation to work for Standard Oil. In 1955 he went to work for El Paso Natural Gas. Then in 1960 he returned to Douglas and became the owner operator of the Standard Station located on the corner of 10th Street and F Ave. in Douglas, Arizona. He sold the station in 1965 and went to work for Phelps Dodge in the Power House in Bisbee, Arizona. In 1972 Earl took a chance and began a very successful, 20 year career, as an Agent for Farmers Insurance. He retired in 1999, but remained active in the business until 2015. Earl was a Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE Douglas Lodge #955, Past President of the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Douglas. Earl loved Karaoke and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling and was active in league bowling. He also enjoyed golf and camping.He will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Douglas, 700 E 10th Street followed by an Elks Memorial Service and Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at the Douglas Elks Lodge #955.
