Obituary

Cornelio Gonzalez-Cuevas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 11, 2024.  He was born on November 19, 1932 in Huachinera, Sonora, Mexico to Cornelio Cuevas and Carmen Gonzalez.  He later moved to Agua Prieta, Sonora where he worked as a baker.  He later emigrated and settled in Douglas, Arizona, working in agriculture for over 40 years before retiring.  He loved listening to music, singing, watching TV, specifically Westerns, and spending time with family.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He is survived by his wife Estela Escudero of Agua Prieta, Sonora; his daughters, Viridiana Machuca of Douglas, Mykra Cuevas of Sierra Vista, and Carmen Escudero of Agua Prieta, Sonora; his sons, Narcisco Gonzalez of Douglas and David Gonzalez of Tucson; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Though the family is greatly saddened, they are grateful that they had so many great years with Cornelio along with many unforgettable, fond memories.  The family would like to thank Haven Health of Douglas and Copper Queen Community Hospital of Bisbee for providing excellent care, especially during his time of need.  A Memorial Service will be held at Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM followed by a celebration of his life at 10:30 AM.
