Christine Aira passed away on February 10th at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents, Constantino and Manuela Aira, her sister Antonia Morris, and her brother Dominic Aira. Christine is survived by her sisters Josephine Escarcega and Sarah Saavedra (Manuel).

Though Christine did not have children of her own, she was thought of as a second mother by all of her nieces and nephews, who fondly referred to her as "Kitty." Christine had a loving and adventurous spirit and was always eager to try new things. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, especially when they were young. They fondly remember playing games on her porch, making mud pies in the backyard, and playing with toy instruments in one of her spare bedrooms. Later in life, Christine enjoyed playing board games and card games.

Christine worked in the kitchen at Phelps Dodge Hospital for several years and was also a cook for the Head Start school on F Avenue. In her younger days, she played for the Bond Brothers in the Douglas Women's Softball League and was an avid bowler in the Women's Bowling League. Bowling allowed her to travel around the country, competing in tournaments and forming lifelong friendships.

Christine cherished three important things in her life: family, friends, and food. She was always surrounded by family and was grateful to her nieces Cecilia Greth (Chacho), Virginia Morris, Mary Morris Bond (David), and Ernestine Morris for their wonderful care. She also enjoyed her morning visits with David Bond and looked forward to her phone calls from Ernest Morris. There was never a dull moment with Christine at family gatherings. She had a way of making everyone smile. Christine loved all her nephews and nieces, but her great-niece, Allison Greth, held a special place in her heart. Christine would always brighten up whenever Allison visited.  Also, a special thank you to David Escarcega, her nephew, for his kindness to Kitty and patience with the rest of the family.  We will always remember the shocked look from nurses and medical attendants  when she would tell us to "call David at the mortuary, or take this to David at the mortuary."

Rest in Peace, Kitty. We will miss the loving spirit you brought to all of our lives.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church.  Burial of her ashes will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Calvary Cemetery.
