Our dear Cecilia (Yita) passed on, in peace, on August 29, 2020. Cecilia was born and raised in Douglas, Arizona. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1954 and was well known for the customer service and accounting work she provided at NeuWay Laundry and Johnson's Cleaners.  She was so proud of her work and the service she provided to each and every customer, recalling all of their addresses and phone numbers.  She will be remembered as being intelligent, and an avid reader, as well as enjoying life to the fullest.  Yita was always generous in offering her pearls of wisdom, with the best intent and mostly well received. Cecilia was consumed by the well-being of each and every family member from her siblings to the youngest nieces and nephews. Although of little means, it did not prevent her from providing financial support to nieces and nephews from paying for candy to helping with college expenses and so much more. As an incredible singer, she will always be remembered as singing Gregorian Chants at the Immaculate Conception alongside Mr. Raul Castellanos Sr. Yet, Mariachi music was her favorite and she so enjoyed singing with her sisters Bertha and Clementina, or any Mariachi group that came along. She inspired others to grow in love with music.

" The love for one's mother cannot be replaced ," but Yita loved all her nieces and nephews as though they were her own. This quote epitomizes the indelible and unconditional love that Tia Yita shared with her many nieces and nephews, "Only an aunt can give hugs like a mother, keep secrets like a sister and share love like a friend" (author unknown).   Cecilia will be missed by many friends and family.

Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents Guadalupe and Matilde Alvidrez, brother Alejandro Alvidrez, sisters Bertha Salcido and Clementina Luna as well as nieces Gloria Barnes and Laura Morales. She is survived by many who loved her as a second mother including nieces Herlinda Salcido, Lydia Encinas, Anna Arevalo, Eliza Luna and nephews Arnold, Louie, and David Luna along with many great nieces and nephews.

We will always remember Tia Yita as "My aunt has ears that listen, arms that hug and hold, a love that is never ending and a heart that is made of gold" – author unknown.

A private memorial service to celebrate Cecilia's life will be planned for a later date.
