Bennett "Smitty" Delone Smith passed away in the morning hours of September 4, 2017 after many years of battling Alzheimer's, God said it was time. He passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter and nurse by his side.
Smitty was born May 2, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force beginning March 31, 1947 ending with an Honorable Discharge May 17, 1949. Six years later, he began his new life with Connie R Smith on October 22, 1955. He was a superintendent on the oil rigs and would soon train the famous "Red Adair."
He is survived by his wife, Connie R Smith, his children Timothy, Joseph, and Kenneth Smith, Susan Gallegos and Cindy Hinojoza (Louis Salazar); his grandchildren Sommer D. Gurule (Daniel Gurule and three children), Joshua Gallegos, Terry Smith, Alberto A. Hinojoza, Crystal R. Hinojoza, Lisa and Johnathan Smith, Lisa Cutwright, Rachel DiMarco, Louis Jr and Zacharia Salazar; great grandchildren as well as all the wonderful nurses that to care of him: Frances, Norma, Josephine and hospice nurses: Adelle and Loyda.
Thank you so much to these wonderful nurses who took care of him. There are too many people that we want to thank for being there, but you know who you are. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dennis and Ella Lou Smith and children Joseph D. Smith and Susan Gallegos.
Dad we love you so much. May your spirit rest in peace with God and I can't wait until we are all together once again.

Services will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fort Huachuca Honor Guard and the American Legion.
