Arthur Lee Thomasson Jr. was born in Phoenix, Arizona on March 8, 1937 and peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026 in the presence of our Lord and Savior. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents: Arthur Lee Thomasson Sr. and Alta Thomasson, sister Shirley Allen and niece Cece Allen.

He is survived by four children: Debbie Marker, Art Thomasson III, Jo Jane Kimble and Bill Thomasson. He is also survived by his cousin, Bill Thomasson Getzwiller.

Art grew up working on his Dad’s ranch and farm in Picacho, Arizona. It was here he acquired an understanding of ranching, farming, roping and horse training skills he cherished throughout his life.

Arthur attended high school in Eloy, Arizona, where he met his wife, Barbara Jean Self. Their union was sealed on June 14, 1957.

Their 68 year marriage began on a ranch northeast of Douglas, Arizona. Shortly thereafter they welcomed four children into their lives. Over the years they have been blessed with 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Thomasson family resided on the ranch until 1970. Subsequently they sold the ranch and relocated to a farm in Avra Valley, Arizona. Art engaged in farming alfalfa hay and raising cattle. He also became actively involved taking his children to Arizona Junior and high school rodeos.

In1981, Art and Barbara moved back to Douglas, Arizona. They resided there for four decades. In 1985 Art embarked on a new venture by building and operating Art’s Car Wash in Douglas for almost 2 decades.

Art will be dearly missed by his family and many friends in the agriculture industry.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Community Church of Warren, 201 S. Arizona St., Bisbee, Arizona.
